Canada - Banff |
| The spectacular Banff area has been protected by making it a National Park and in this genuinely unspoilt ski resort, wild elk still wander into Banff occasionally while bighorn sheep and the occasional moose can be seen in the foothills of the ski area. The closest ski area to Banff of the three covered by the one pass, Norquay/Mystic Ridge is considered to be Banff's 'local hill'. The skiing is fairly limited and best suited to intermediates. Norquay/Mystic Ridge makes a good first day venue - it's somewhere to regain your snow legs before venturing to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. The scenery is stunning, as is the on-piste convenience. As with all three resorts, you can have a free guide to show you around and this makes for a great addition to your first day back in the saddle. There are a few challenging pistes to push more advanced skiers, but once these are conquered you may well want to head for the more extreme challenges of Lake Louise. Most people choose to stay 6km away in Banff, where the majority of accommodation is found. Unfortunately it does lack 'Alpine' ambience and is generally a summer resort. There is a wide range of accommodation, restaurants and fun, lively nightlife. It can get very cold in winter, but in the evenings there are plenty of bars in which to warm up. Canada - Heliskiing |
| Heliskiing Holidays Words alone cannot begin to describe the enormous terrain that awaits you every morning at our doorstep in Heliskiing British Columbia. There are seven different valleys to choose from in Heliskiing BC and there is more than enough terrain in each valley to fill a day's work. Consider the Molson Valley alone, 2,500 vertical feet spread across 15,000 acres, which is three times the size of Canada's largest ski resort, Whistler and Blackcomb. Each valley is unique in character, ranging from the Kinbasket Valley with its 3,000 vertical extreme glacier faces to the Dawson Valley face which drops 5,000 feet at a mellow cruising 35 degrees. From bowls and chutes to peaks and glaciers, the seven valleys in British Columbia contribute to the most custom and diverse heliskiing ski experiences of your life. |
